Inscription: FRONT FACE: IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE/ FOLLOWING PARISHIONERS OF/ PRESTON GOBALDS/ WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914-1919/ (NAMES)/ THE MEMORIAL THEREOF SHALL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN LEFT AND RIGHT FACE: (NAMES) Note that the place is spelt Gobalds on the memorial photo, though the OS map spells the village name as Gubbalds

Maintenance History: 2000: DIRTY STATE OF THE CROSS AND FACT THAT SOME OF THE LETTERS HAVE FALLEN OFF MAKE THE INSCRIPTION AND SOME OF THE NAMES DIFFICULT TO READ. 2010 visit (see photos) shows improvement.
