    Maintenance History
c1995: This WW2 memorial was installed in the foyer of the School's newly-built 'Cavendish Library and Resource' building, which the Duke of Devonshire opened in December 1995. (The board is believed to have been originally erected in the 1940s/1950s, in the School's original library building at Shutts Lane, and been subsequently moved when that was supplanted by newly-built 'Cavendish Library' on the School's premises, in 1995).

    • Derby Daily Telegraph - Thursday 21 May 1936 (page 13) reported: 'DUKE OF RUTLAND LAYS FOUNDATION STONE. NEW HOME FOR LADY MANNERS SCHOOL, BAKEWELL. The Duke of Rutland yesterday laid the foundation stone of the new school buildings of the Lady Manners School, Bakewell, on a site in Shutts lane, of which he is the donor. The school, a one-storey building, with accommodation for from 250 to 300 pupils and capable of extension, will be one of the most up-to-date secondary school establishments in the country. The library, which is being furnished and equipped at a cost of about £1,000 by the present and past scholars, will contain a War Memorial to the Old Mannerians who fell the Great War. The date of the stone-laying ceremony was selected by the Duke of Rutland as being the anniversary of the date on which his ancestress, Grace Lady Manners, founded the school. During those years the Manners family have been actively associated with it...' https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000521/19360521/068/0013
