    Description
A clock tower and chamber at its base that was part of the old (19th Century) police buildings complex. Two bronze lion heads support flagpoles to each side of entrance to the chamber: the entrance features black, wrought-iron gates with the dates in gilt at their top. A balcony above the entrance carries a specially composed inscription by Thomas Hardy. The names of fallen are inscribed on two of the walls of the vaulted chamber at base of tower, there being eleven columns of names on each wall. Stone vault springs from corbels in the four corners carved in the form of rose, thistle, shamrock and daffodil.
