Type of Memorial: Cross
WMR Reference Number: 20778
Description: A plain Latin cross of rough-hewn granite set on a square plinth and a three-stepped base. The plinth bears an inscription and the names of those killed in the First World War. A further inscription and the names of servicemen and civilians killed in the Second World War are on an additional tablet at the foot of the cross. The cross is located in a small memorial garden surrounded by a low chain-link fence.
Inscription: THIS CROSS IS ERECTED/ IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ THOSE WHO FROM THIS PARISH/ GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918/ (Names) Additional tablet: ALSO TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY/ OF THE FOLLOWING WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR/ 1939-1945/ (Names)/ AND THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES/ IN THIS PARISH THROUGH ENEMY ACTION (Names)
