1. This must have been remade, since the original was unveiled in 1921 and this is complete with the names from 1939-45. 2. In 2014 a project to undertake conservation works to the memorial received a Grant Offer of £1,725 through the War Memorials Trust Small Grants Scheme. The works sought to remove all existing concrete copings to replace them with natural stone copings to the same size and design as the original. Lime mortar was used in minor repairs around the wall. In January 2015 a payment of £1,635 was made towards the completed works - payment was lower than offered as works were lower in price than originally quoted so the grant was reduced according as it was offered as a percentage of total costs. 3. Two steps and the memorial base were renewed in 1999 by West Rainton and Leamside Parish Council
