    Calgary cross on two tier step, flanked by 2 stones left and right polished grey. The disaster is also commemorated by a plaque at the roadside commemorating it.

    SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/ TWO TEACHERS/ 38 INFANT SCHOLARS/ AND SEVEN CIVILIANS WHO LOST/ THEIR LIVES WHEN AN AMERICAN/ LIBERATOR BOMBER CRASHED/ DURING A THUNDER STORM/ AND DESTROYED A PART OF/ THE ADJOINING SCHOOL AND/ OTHER PROPERTY ON/ THE 23RD AUG 1944/ THIS MONUMENT/ WAS ERECTED OVER THEIR GRAVE/ BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION/ "IN GOD WE TRUST" Left Stone: TEACHERS/ (Names) SCHOLARS/ (Names) Right Stone: SCHOLARS (Names) CIVILIANS (Names) Roadside Commemorative Plaque: "This is the site of the village school where,/ on the 23rd August 1944, during a severe storm,/ an American bomber crashed with the loss of 61 lives."/ This includes 38 children, 2 teachers and/ 21 civilians and service personnel./ Always in Our Hearts Also #73643 Freckleton Memorial Playground #106424 Freckleton School #106425 Freckleton Memorial Hall
