Description: Vertically oriented dark stone tablet, set in a window recess on the south side of the church. Engraved lettering. Name and final quotation "THE LAST.....DEATH +++" are picked out on gold paint.
Inscription: In Memory of/JOHN CHETWODE/Lieutenant(S) R.N.R./Who lost his life in the sinking/of H.M.S. GLOUCESTER in the/Aegean Sea in MAY 1941 aged 32/He was the dearly beloved first/husband of JOAN COLLINGS/who lies buried in this churchyd/and the elder son of Admiral/Sir George and Lady Chetwode/ THE LAST ENEMY THAT SHALL/BE DESTROYED IS DEATH +++
