    Description
Celtic cross with flat interlacing decoration on tall shaft, surmounting a small base and an octagonal dais. Surrounding the memorial on six sides is a low wall. The names are on bronze plaques affixed to the wall. The memorial is accessed via three stone steps from ground level on two sides. A free-standing, glass-fronted case at the rear of the war memorial contained a copy of a memorial list of men from chapel St Altrincham who joined the armed forces in WWI. 161 men joined from 66 houses, of whom 29 died either during or shortly after the war. The case, however, was removed by the Council, as the list of names had faded. The original list is displayed in Altrincham Town Hall
