At top-centre of the bronze plaque is a relief-cast Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment crest, which is flanked on each side by the name of a Battalion; the inscription beneath is in raised lettering. (It is one of several identical plaques that were erected in various towns and villages in both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in the nid-1920s one such facsimile was placed in Nottingham's Drill Hall}.
The slate tablet in the base has an incised reversed dagger and shield enclosing an arrow in flight, and an inscription re the erection of this Sherwood Foresters memorial on this site in 1927 by the Eastwood Ambulance Training Corps, to complement the memorial re their own casualties that they had erected in 1920 (our record of which is WMR 38739).
