    Latin cross standing on a three stepped base. The face of the cross is heavily carved in the shape of a stylised cross with the lower limb in the form of a tree trunk standing on stones and the other three being carved in the shape of groups of leaves. In the centre is a large letter S. The lettering on the base is in raised block capitals

    IN / LOVING MEMORY / OF / PTE. ALEXANDER GILBERTSON, / WHO DIED FROM ENTERIC, WHILST SERVING WITH H.M. FORCES / BASRA, PERSIAN GULF. 31ST DEC. 1916, AGED 18 YEARS. / ALSO SERGT WLLIAM H. GILBERTSON, / THE DEAR HUSBAND OF FRANCIS GILBERTSON, / WHO WAS KILLED IN FRANCE. 2ND SEP. 1917, AGED 32 YEARS. / BELOVED SONS OF W. AND A. J. GILBERTSON. / IN A LAND OF STRANGERS OUR DEAR BOYS LIE, / NOT ONE OF US NEAR TO BID THEM GOODBYE; / BUT THE ANGELS OF HEAVEN ARE GUARDING THEIR SOULS / TILL WE MEET THEM AGAIN AT THE CSLL OF THE ROLL. //
