- Description
- Family grave in three parts, consisting of a shallow base plinth of an unknown stone which is partially buried in the ground. On top of this sits the large light grey granite unpolished upper plinth, which tapers slightly upwards towards the centre where it is met by the main headstone. This headstone of black granite is highly polished on its face with incised lettering which has been highlighted with gold paint which has now faded. The top of this stone has a triangular top below which at the top centre, there is a stylised flower or fleur-de-lis shape, with a pointed, petal-like form rising upward. Flowing outward from the centre are two mirrored, elegant scrolls or spirals that curve downward and then outward, forming a flourish that resembles classical ornamental motifs, such as those found in Victorian or Art Nouveau designs. This design continues bordering both the left and right sides to the base of the stone which ends in a fleur-de-lis. The sides and rear of the headstone have been buffed smooth but remain unpolished.
