The church was situated in a small Protestant area on the Falls Road and was repeatedly vandalised during the Troubles, and was only able to function partially because of the security situation, leading to the decision to leave the building. The church's main war memorial plaques (WMR 41663 and WMR 113581) were removed to Malone Presbyterian Church.

The church closed and the congregation moved to the Great Victoria Street Presbyterian Church, which, having become the home for several congregations whose churches had been closed, was renamed as the South Kirk.
