    Description
The family headstone is composed of three sections. The base is a large plinth made from a light-coloured stone, bearing the maker’s name. It tapers slightly upwards towards the centre, where it meets the upper plinth. The upper plinth, crafted from black granite, features a highly polished front face with reverse-carved lettering displaying the family name in relief. Its sides and rear surfaces are smooth but unpolished, as is the top, which also tapers upwards to meet the main headstone. The main headstone, also of black granite, has a polished front with a shallow arched top. Beneath the arch is a reverse-carved design depicting branches arranged in a basket-arch pattern that spreads into leaves and rosettes. Below this is a motif resembling a flat-topped pyramid, and beneath that, a large rectangular panel occupies most of the face. This panel is framed by an engraved decorative border with corner flourishes and classical motifs. The inscriptions are engraved into the stone and highlighted with gold paint. The sides, top, and rear surfaces of the headstone remain unpolished.
