Description: A polished family headstone of red granite cylindrical column monument, standing on a square stone plinth. The shaft has a moulded base and is surmounted by a wide, stepped and moulded capital, decorated with bands of carved ornament. Above this is a classical urn-shaped finial with a domed cover and knop. The monument has additional decorative incised bands around the upper sections.
Inscription: Erected by / JAMES LAWRENCE / BUILDER, CRAIGELLACHIE / IN MEMORY OF / HIS FATHER / JAMES LAWRENCE / WHO DIED AT / LITTLEMILL, CAIRNIE, / 3RD JAN. 1869 AGED 27 / ALSO HIS BROTHER / WILLIAM LAWRENCE / FOR 28 YEARS IN THE / GLASGOW HERALD OFFICE / DIED IN GLASGOW / 29TH DEC. 1914 AGED 48 / ALSO HIS SON / ALEXANDER MCC. LAWRENCE / LANCE CORP. 6TH GORDONS / WHO FELL IN ACTION / NEAR ROEUX, FRANCE / 16TH MAY 1917, AGED 20 YEARS.
