    Maintenance History
2009: Chapel fully restored and forms focal frontage to new Hornsey Central Neighbourhood Health Centre, officially opened by Lord Darzi on Friday 25 September 2009. The memorial is floodlit at night. The War memorial Chapel underwent major refurbishment works both internally and externally during the building of the Health Centre. Internally the plaster was replaced, the tarnished panelling reconditioned, heating reconnected, and out-of-date lighting replaced. The roof light re-glazed and timber framework overhauled with new roofing cover installed. All paint work cleaned and re-coated. The painted inscriptions above the panelling were in very poor condition so professionally re-done. The external wooden doors damaged by vandals replaced, while glass was chosen to substitute the previously wooden internal doors so that the chapel is now visible to the general public and accessible at all times during the Health Centre's opening hours. April 2007: Chapel encircled by hoardings. Repair and restoration due to start in September 2007 when work on the new health resource begins. March 2007: Hospital has been demolished but the chapel still stands. November 2005: Hospital still under threat of demolition, but plans on hold due to financial constraints. Memorial deemed 'at risk' by English Heritage. 19 September 2001: Memorial is Grade II Listed by English Heritage. June 2001: Hospital due to be demolished to make way for sheltered housing.
