    Cross of Portland stone surmounting high stone base. Base has brass plaques on all four sides.

    Upper WW1 dedicatory plaque: THIS SIGN/ OF THE GREAT SACRIFICE/ IS RAISED IN HONOUR OF/ OUR HEROIC DEAD/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR ENGLAND/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE. Lower WW1 dedicatory plaque: THE PEOPLE OF SUTTON/ ERECTED THIS MONUMENT AND DEDICATED/ THE FOUR ACRES OF GROUND SURROUNDING IT/ TO THE USE OF THE PUBLIC FOR EVER/ JUNE 1921. Associated plaques: (WW1 NAMES) WW2 dedicatory plaque: AND IN MEMORY OF THOSE MEN AND WOMEN OF/ SUTTON WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN DEFENCE OF/ FREEDOM IN THE WORLD WAR 1939-1945.
