    SQUARE LIMESTONE OBELISK WITH TWO CONNECTED PORTLAND STONE WALLS WITH NAMES ON BEHIND IT URN SURMOUNTS OBELISK. WREATH OF LAUREL LEAVES AT THE TOP. COATS OF ARMS OF THE THREE SERVICES AND THE BOROUGH ARE ON THE FRONT OF THE OBELISK

    ON CENOTAPH: OUR/ GLORIOUS/ DEAD/ THIS CENOTAPH WAS/ ERECTED BY SUBSCRIBERS/ TO THE WAR MEMORIAL/ OF THE BOROUGH OF/ CAMBERWELL AS A/ TRIBUTE TO ITS SONS/ WHOSE BODIES ARE REST/ ING IN THE CEMETERY AND/ THROUGHOUT THE WORLD./ AT THE CALL OF/ KING AND COUNTRY/ THEY LEFT EVERYTHING/ THAT WAS DEAR TO THEM,/ ENDURED HARDNESS/ FACED DANGER AND/ FINALLY PASSED OUT OF/ SIGHT OF MEN BY THE/ PATH OF DUTY AND/ SELF SACRIFICE./ THEY DIED THAT/ WE MIGHT LIVE IN FREEDOM/ AND AT THE LAST MUSTER/ THEY SHALL STAND BE/ FORE THE THRONE AN/ EXCEEDINGLY GREAT ARMY/ 1914 - 1918/ THEY PASSED BUT THEY/ COULD NOT PASS AWAY WALL BEHIND: (NAMES) WALL BEHIND: ON THE WALL TO THE EAST OF THIS PANEL/ ARE RECORDED THE NAMES OF THOSE/ SAILORS AND SOLDIERS WHO ARE BURIED/ IN THIS ENCLOSED SPACE AND ON THE WALL/ TO THE WEST ARE THE NAMES OF THOSE/ BURIED IN THE OTHER PARTS OF THIS CEMETERY
