    Description
    Dalbeattie Granite Obelisk 16 feet high on a square pedestal on three steps 4 feet square at the base. On the tapering shaft a laurel wreath is carved in half relief. A raised shield is in the centre of the top of the pedestal. The names for 1914-18 appear on the front, listed in two columns, those for 1939-45 are on the back-both on marble tablets. All lettering is incised and blackened using sans serif capitals

(Back): Erected / in grateful memory of / the fallen, and in honour / of those who served / by the inhabitants of / Middleton-In-Teesdale / 1921 b. (Front) : Our glorious dead / who fell in the World War / 1939-1945/[names] c. (Side): Also / in memory / of the following who died from / the effects of war service./[names]
