Memorial Details

Type of Memorial: Obelisk
WMR Reference Number: 1317
Description: A stone obelisk mounted on a tapering four-sided plinth with moulded tiers set on a single stone step. The original names and dedication were incised into Faces 1 and 3 of the plinth, but due to deterioration a slate tablet was made combining the detail of both faces and mounted onto Face 4. The names detail on Face 3 is completely illegible, and on Face 1 barely discernible. The memorial sits within a small garden surrounded by beech hedging, with a small metal gate at the entrance.

History

Maintenance History: July 2026: The dedication and names detail on Face 1 barely discernible, and Face 3 is completely illegible. The slate tablet on Face 4 is in good condition. Access is still possible but the whole of the garden area is very overgrown and the beech bushes need cutting back.
