  • Press Statement from the Football Club dated 8 July 2013-Work begins to reinstate the Heart of Midlothian War Memorial back to its Haymarket location. Work to reinstate the Heart of Midlothian War Memorial to its location at Haymarket junction will begin today. The city's Transport Convener Councillor Lesley Hinds and the Managing Director of Heart of Midlothian Football Club, David Southern, placed a time capsule in the base of the memorial in commemoration of the club's footballers who lost their lives in World War One. The memorial was placed in to storage in 2009 for safe-keeping as tram construction works were taking place in the area. It will be carefully rebuilt over the next six weeks in the centre of the Haymarket road junction, opposite the Haymarket Bar. Councillor Hinds said: "This memorial holds a special place in the hearts of many in Edinburgh and I'm delighted work is now beginning to restore it to its rightful place in the centre of the Haymarket junction.
