    Cenotaph on high pillar, with two plaques containing names. Carved laurel wreath on front face near the top.

    (TOP OF PILLAR) PAX TO THE/ GLORY OF GOD/ IN HONOUR OF THOSE WHO SERVED IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914-1919(SIC). AND IN GRATEFUL/ REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE WHO WENT OUT/FROM SHEPTON MALLET AND LAID DOWN/ THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY/ THEIR NAMES BEING RECORDED BELOW.

    2007: Road widening scheme that was due to affect the memorial may have to be cancelled after a stone plinth was found beneath the tarmac. 2006: There is local concern regarding the status of the memorial as there is a proposed development to provide access to a new Tesco. 1988: Cleaned by cadets
