    Description
    A tablet with sandstone frame mounted on a stone wall. The tablet comprises white marble tiles with the inscription and names painted onto them in upright roman lettering, the heading in capitals, the remainder in sentence case. The moulded sandstone frame has a cornice and pediment at the head with a laurel a wreath at the centre. The whole is mounted on a sandstone ashlar wall with a sandstone base.

    MAPPERLEY COLLIERIES/ ROLL OF HONOUR OF THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN/ THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND COUNTRY IN/ THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1919/ (Names)/ "I expect to pass through this world but once. If, therefore, there/ is any good thing that I can do, or any kindness I can show my/ fellow-men, Let Me Do It Now. Let me not defer, nor neglect it, for/ I shall not pass this way again."
