    Description
    A carved sandstone figure of St George set into a niche with sandstone tablets on each side. The figure is wearing armour and a cloak, carrying a sword and shield and has a vanquished dragon at his feet. The tablets are recessed within ashlar frames set into the wall and bear an incised inscription and names for WW1 in upright Roman capital lettering coloured black. The lower stones of the frames bear the WW2 inscription and name in incised upright capital lettering coloured black.

    Left tablet: TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY/ OF THE SUDBURY MEN WHO LAID DOWN/ THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919/ GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS/ THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS/ FRIENDS. JOHN XV-13. GRANT THEM O LORD/ PARDON & PEACE REST & LIGHT PERPETUAL Lower frame of left tablet: ALSO 1939 - 1945. Right tablet: (Names) Lower frame of right tablet: (Name)

    December 2005: The Registered Historic Park and Garden, which includes the church, was added to the Sudbury Conservation Area. 13 September 1967: The church was listed Grade II*, Heritage List for England number 1273942. c1940s: WW2 inscription added. The church is listed on the Derbyshire Historic Environment Record (formerly the Derbyshire Sites and Monuments Record) number HER 26601. The church lies within the grounds of Sudbury Hall, a National Trust Property listed in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest.
