Memorial Details

Type of Memorial: Cross
WMR Reference Number: 14768
Description: Elevated composite memorial consisting of a high, platform-topped curved wall surmounted by a two-stepped rectangular base and Latin cross. Three incised slate tablets are attached to the central section of wall. Above each of these tablets are laurel garlands in relief, draping halfway down each of the sides. An incised slate tablet is attached flush to each of the two front faces on outer wall pillars. Above each of the tablets is a laurel wreath in relief. Inscriptions infilled in gold coloured paint. Two steps are incorporated within the curved wall enclosure.
Inscription: Centre wall tablet : TO THE GLORIOUS AND / EVER HONOURED MEMORY / OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN / THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 / They loved not their lives unto the death / Rev XII-11 / And their glory shall not be blotted out / Ecclus XLIV-13 Left of centre, wall tablet : (7 NAMES) Right of centre, wall tablet : (8 NAMES) Left pillar tablet : 1939-1945 / (5 NAMES) Right pillar tablet : 1939-1945 / (5 NAMES)
