Description: Plaque with triangular head within which is a bust in relief, set inside a wreath, depicting a soldier in cap and tunic. Beneath this is a ribbon with inscription. To the left and right of the inscription, which is in relief, is a device composed of a piece of rail end on, beneath which are a sledgehammer, a pick and a shovel. Beneath the devices are the figures of soldiers in caps with arms reversed. Below the inscription is the Royal Sussex regimental badge.
Inscription: On ribbon: SOUTH AFRICA 1900 EUROPEAN WAR 1914-15 (Exact wording uncertain) In Memory of / PRIVATE HENRY OSBORNE / No. 113, 7th ROYAL SUSSEX REGT / OF THIS PARISH, WHO FELL AT THE / BATTLE OF LOOS, IN FLANDERS / SEPTEMBER 25th. 1915 AGED 39 YEARS / THIS MEMORIAL TABLET WAS ERECTED AS A MARK OF / RESPECT BY THE DIRECTORS & STAFF OF THE KENT / AND EAST SUSSEX RAILWAY UPON WHICH UNDERTAKING / HE WAS EMPLOYED IN THE ENGINEERS DEPARTMENT
