    • Stamford Mercury - Friday 11 November 1921 Page 5 NEWARK. ST. LEONARD'S PARISH MEMORIAL. There was large congregation at St. Leonard's Church on Thursday evening when the War Memorial Chapel, which has been subscribed for by the parishioners, was unveiled by Lieut.-Col. R. F. Hodgkinson, O.B.E., T.D., and dedicated the Bishop of Southwell. The memorial lakes the form of Lady Chapel formed by the erection of enclosing screens at the altar end returned Calvary group supported the figures of St. John and Mary. The memorial chapel is further adorned by three sanctuary lamps design, with traceried and cusped panels in late Gothic period. The triptych wings are fitted in with two bronze metal tablets upon which are engraved the names of 80 men of St. Leonard's parish and congregation who made the supreme sacrifice in 1914-1918, and, on the frieze abpve the triptych are inscribed in gilt letters the words "Their name liveth for evermore. 'Within the triptych is the Calvary group supported the figures of St. John and Mary. The memorial chapel is further adorned by three sanctuary lamps executed in polished brass, the gift of Lieut. Col. Hodgkinson. The altar book, book rest, gong, alms dish, cross, candlesticks, and altar linen are the gifts of ladies and members electors the Hast Ward for 12 yeans, fallen were read by the Rev. F. T. S. Powell, and the National Anthem concluded a very impressive service.
