Inscription: SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/ HENRY WEYLAND POWELL, ESQUIRE/ OF FOXLEASE IN THIS PARISH,/ WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE IN LONDON/ ON THE 17TH OF JULY 1840, AGED 53 YEARS/ HIS REMAINS ARE INTERRED AT FULHAM MIDDLESEX;/ HE WAS FORMERLY IN THE GRENADIER REGIMENT OF/ FOOT GUARDS,/ AND SERVED WITH THEM AT WALCHEREN,/ IN THE PENINSULAR,/ AND IN THE ACTIONS OF QUATRE-BRAS, AND WATERLOO/ THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS AFFLICTED WIDOW/ AS A LAST SAD TRIBUTE AND TOKEN OF AFFECTION,/ TO HIM WHO AS A HUSBAND AND A FATHER IS/ DESERVING OF THE SINCEREST LOVE AND GRATITUDE/ ALSO TO THE MEMORY OF/ CLARISSA POWELL,/ MOTHER OF HENRY WEYLAND POWELL,/ WHO DIED THE 30TH OF JANUARY 1847,/ AGED 81 YEARS./ THE BODIES OF THE ABOVE WERE REMOVED FROM FULHAM/ TO A VAULT IN THIS CHURCH-YARD OCT 26TH 1865/ ALSO TO THE MEMORY OF ELIZA POWELL
