Land known as Greyfriars Paddock was bought for £200. Public subscription did not not provide enough funds and so the Council agreed to covers remaining costs. The War Memorial Committee passed on the Covenant and the residual fundung in 1922. Memorial Ground pathed, shrubs planted and seats a gift from JJ Armfield JP.
