    Description
Wood and stone lychgate with tiled roof. There is a stone tablet on each side of the inside of the gate, each with names in four columns. The WW1 names are on the right-hand tablet and the first column of the left-hand tablet. The WW2 names are on the second, third and fourth columns on the left-hand tablet. The roof beams, trusses and posts are of timber reported to have come from decommissioned WW2 battleships, including the tampions (wooden plugs for the muzzles of guns) from HMS Rodney. The roof shingles are of Canadian cedar. The structure contains stones from many historic buildings damaged in WW2 including St Paul's Cathedral, Coventry Cathedral, various churches in York, the Houses of Parliament and Leeds Town Hall.

    Maintenance History
There were originally six metal name plaques on each internal wall as well as wooden gates. However, following an incidence of vandalism in 1970, the metal name plaques were replaced with then current stone tablets, and the gates were replaced with the current metal gates, which are lockable.
