    Description
    Five light stained glass window with tracery above, with attendant marble tablet carrying a description of the window, which represents "Sunrise at Jerusalem on the First Easter Day", and carrying eight names, two of which are of men killed in the Great War. Elements of the Easter story are featured in the window - on the right, the three crucifixion crosses stand on a hill with a path leading down to the empty tomb, with the stone rolled aside, while on the left a light shines in the window of the house where the disciples are gathered in fear. The tablet comprises four squares of marble within a gold mosaic and alabaster frame, and an incised and blacked inscription.

    The East window in this Church/ of St. John, Ainsdale, representing/"sunrise at Jerusalem on the first/ Easter Day" was inserted by/ relatives and friends, to the/ Glory of God and in Loving/ and Grateful Memory of/ (Names)/ 22nd April 1928.

    The window was donated in memory of eight parishioners, two of whom were killed in the Great War.
    Additional Cost/Sponsorship Information
    The work was started in 1923 and the window depecting sunrise on the first Easter Day was donated in memory of eight parishioners. It was originally painted glass but by 1927 this was fading, so when Mrs Abrams left £200 to the church it was decided to remake the window.
