    BASE SURMOUNTED BY PEDESTAL SURMOUNTED BY FIGURE OF BRITTANIA STANDING ON CHAINS AND HOLDING TRIDENT AND PALM. NAME PLAQUES AND TABLETS PLACED ON BASE OF MEMORIAL AND ON A RAISED WALL BUILT AROUND THE MEMORIAL.

    2010: Memorial moved to a new location at Earle Street Library. Plaques removed and replaced. 2005: Designated a Grade II listed monument. Plans to relocate Nov 2004. Plans put on hold May 2006. Damage of vandalism in 2007
