Description: Plain brass plaque with incised inscription in red and black lettering. Single black line border.
Inscription: TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF/ CORPORAL JOHN TIPPINS,/ RIFLE EXPERT OF WONDERFUL/ SKILL AND A MEMBER OF THE/ EMPIRE TEAM. HE WAS MACHINE/ GUN SERGEANT IN THE 5TH ESSEX./ MOTOR CYCLE SERGEANT IN/ 8TH ESSEX, AND JOINED THE/ 2ND ESSEX TO FIGHT IN BELGIUM./ HE USED HIS TALENTS WITH/ GREAT EFFECT UNTIL HE/ WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON/ NOVEMBER 26TH 1914, AGED 27/ YEARS. HE WAS BURIED/ NEAR ARMETIERES. HE SANG/ IN THIS CHOIR FOR 20 YEARS/ R.I.P.
