    Description
    Large flat topped wooden board with a raised central portion and surmounted by a Latin cross at its centre point. The cross has a wreath draped over the cross pieces and a second at its base. A dedication runs across the top of the board in two panels. Names appear on four boards, each made of two vertical pieces of wood. A separate inscription appears on a separate, rectangular board attached to and forming part of the memorial (See War Memorials Register entry 2299)

    PARISH OF SAINT JAMES /NEW BRIGHTON / THESE ARE THEY, MEN OF THIS PARISH, WHO IN THE GREAT WAR /1914-1919, LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN THE CAUSE OF RIGHT /(NAMES)/ GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN MARY TYSON PRESENTS THIS MEMORIAL TABLET TO THE / CHURCH OF SAINT JAMES NEW BRIGHTON IN MEMORY / OF HER ONLY SON / LIEUTENANT WILLIAM NOEL DAWSON TYSON / OF THE 15TH BATTALION CHESHIRE REGIMENT /WHO FELL FACING THE ENEMY IN FLANDERS ON / SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH 1918 AD / FOR THE INSPIRATION,WHICH LED HIM AT THE AGE / OF 21 YEARS TO PASS INTO ETERNITY THROUGH THE / PORTAL OF SELF SACRIFICE, MAY ALMIGHTY GOD BE / EVER PRAISED.
