    • The 1st Lancashire Fusiliers were almost wiped out in the attempted landings at Cape Helles, as the beach which still bears their name today. HMS Euryalus was an aged pre-Dreadnaught cruiser on which the battalion had been transported. A photograph and watercolour of the ship and one of its name plates are in the Fusiliers Museum. A very unusual memorial
