    Description
A rectangular architecturally framed grey terracotta tablet made in several sections and having a moulded cornice with a flat top. Below the cornice there are three round-arched niches framed on the sides by square pilasters. The central niche is wider and taller than the outer niches and is divided into an upper section containing an angel with outspread wings whose outstretched arms hold a scroll on which is the first line of an inscription, and a lower section comprising a flat panel on which the memorial inscription continues. The left hand niche contains a figure of the Archangel Michael holding his attributes of a flaming sword and scales. The right hand niche contains a nimbed figure of St George holding a shield bearing the cross of St George, and a banner which swirls around him. Both figures are depicted as warriors, wearing armour. The niches rest on a stepped and moulded shelf. In both parts of the inscription the background of the lettering is cut away leaving the Arts and Crafts style letters in relief and flush with the face of the tablet. Some of the ascenders of the letters and the punctuation marks extend beyond the cut away area
