    Description
    THE TOP OF THE MEMORIAL COMPRISES A SCULPTURED PORTLAND STONE FIGURE OF A SOLDIER DRESSED IN A WW1 UNIFORM STANDING WITH RIFLE AT REST BETWEEN HIS FEET AND WITH HIS HEAD BOWED. THE FIGURE SURMOUNTS A SQUARE SET COLUMN WHICH BEARS INCISED NAMES AND INSCRIPTION IN LOW RELIEF. THE WHOLE MEMORIAL IS SET ON A TWO-STEPPED STONE BASE. RELIEFS OF LAUREL GARLANDS SURROUND THE NAMES FROM WW1. THE SOLDIER RESTS ON A DECORATED COPING STONE SURMOUNTED BY THREE FURTHER BLOCKS OF STONE FORMING STEPS UP TO THE FEET OF THE SOLDIER.
