    Description
    The memorial comprises a rough hewn granite cross located at the roadside. The names of the fallen from WW1 are placed at the front of the memorial and the names of the fallen from WW2 are placed on the left-hand side. The inscription is formed with gold coloured capital letters. The names of the fallen are formed with black capital letters.

    "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God" Matt v 8. Front: IN MEMORY/ OF/ THE MEN OF/ MERSTHAM/ WHO LAID DOWN/ THEIR LIVES/ FOR/ THEIR COUNTRY/ IN/ THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1919 (90 names) (left-hand side) TO THE MEMORY OF/ THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR/ THEIR COUNTRY/ IN THE WORLD WAR/ 3RD SEPT 1939 - 15TH AUG 1943 (35 names)

    Maintenance History
    Memorial completely cleaned and lettering restored in May 2014. Monument coated with biocide to help protect against traffic fume erosion. Sympathetic railings added and plinth enlarged to enable safer standing with wreath hangers added to railings. Change to name made in July 2015 to correct Christian name error.
