    Previous Location(s)

    • In storage at unknown site, Amesbury, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England

      Year of move

      1969

      Reason for move

Documentary evidence contradicts the notion that the memorial lay in storage from 1964 until 1969 when it was reconstructed in the churchyard. Indeed, the Amesbury parish magazine for 1969 makes no mention of the memorial except a remembrance service (ref. 6) and the diary of Rev. John Buffrey (ref.7), the vicar of St Mary and St Melor in 1969, makes no mention of the re-siting of the memorial; he was the author of the parish magazine in 1969.

    • Village Green, Salisbury St, Amesbury, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England

      Year of move

      June 1964

      Reason for move

Memorial was dismantled when it was dismantled to make way for The Centre, a new section of the A345 to improve north and south traffic flow through the town.
