Memorial Details

Type of Memorial: Cross
WMR Reference Number: 24668
Description: Three-stepped, octagonal base, surrounded by an octagonal retaining stone, the base surmounted by a square plinth, octagonal shaft and gabled Calvary Cross upon which is a representation of Christ. The whole is set in a paved area enclosed by metal railings with a gate on one side. The commemoration is carved into the side of the plinth, the names into the faces of the steps.

History

Maintenance History: In 2007 the council were in discussions to move the memorial from the park to a position in the High Street. However, IWM 85132 was created instead and so the memorial was not moved. the move within the park in 2021 cost £22,500.
