    Description
    Wheel cross in stone surmounting tapering plinth. Plinth bears carved inscription and stands on three stepped, stone base. Stone wall erected behind bears bronze plaques with raised names. Enclosed in in semi-circular walled garden and flower beds. Cross has Celtic-style carving on head and shaft based on St Martin's Cross, Iona.

    Base of cross: ERECTED IN HONOUR OF THE MEN/ OF MIDGLEY & LUDDENDEN/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914-1918/ ALSO TO THE HONOURED MEMORY OF/ THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE/ WORLD WAR 1939-1945 On step: AS GOLD IN THE FURNACE HATH HE TRIED THEM AND RECEIVED THEM AS A BURNT OFFERING On wall: THEY DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY 1914-1918/ (Names)
