WMR Reference Number: 26298
Description: A Cornish granite cross fleury on a slim octagonal shaft which stands on a stepped octagonal plinth. The plinth is mounted on an octagonal step, above a square base which stands in a square gravelled area surrounded by a stone kerb. The dedication is on the front face of the plinth, with the names on the other 7. The incised inscription is blacked.
Inscription: Remember/before God/ the Gallant Dead/whose names/ are written here/ though many lie/ in other lands./ They fell/ in the great war/ 1914-1919

History

Maintenance History: In 2008/9 English Heritage and the Wolfson Foundation gave £1,075 towards work to clean the memorial, remove the paint from the lettering, replace worn or damaged letters and re-black all letters, rake out and re-point joints and clean the surrounding area and kerbs.
