    • Nottingham Journal, Monday 20th September 1920 (page 5) reported: 'MEMORIAL WINDOW. Chilwell and Attenborough Tribute to Fallen. The ancient church of Attenborough was crowded yesterday on the occasion of the dedication and unveiling of a memorial window and tablet erected to the memory of the men of Chilwell and Attenborough who lost their lives in the war. Previous to the ceremony an impressive service was conducted the Rev. W. M. Browne, Vicar of Bramcote, with which the parishes of Chilwell and Attenborough are linked. The Vicar of Middleton (Derbyshire), the Rev. J. Smaridge, M.A., who was formerly a curate in the parish, performed the ceremony, after which he preached an eloquent sermon. At-the close of the service the "Last Post” and ‘'Reveille" were sounded by Private Stanley Brown, R.A.O.C. The stained glass window consists of three lights, the centre of which bears the figure of the Angel with the Crown of Life, on either side which is St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, and St George, the patron saint of soldiers. Under the three main figures are three interesting subjects, representing incidents from the late war, which have been beautifully worked up. The whole the design is enclosed in a rich silvery canopy and base with the badges of the different regiments to which the men belonged introduced. https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0001897/19200920/105/0005
