    Description
Original memorial in Carr Park - The memorial consists of a curving wall which has a rectangular pedestal at its centre and the grounds surrounding the wall. The central pedestal has a bronze wreath and originally had a bronze plaque commemorated the fallen of the First World War. An additional bronze plaque commemorating those who have given their lives on active service since 1945 was added at a later date below the First World War plaque. In April 2011, the First World War plaque was stolen and in 2012 was replaced with a granite plaque. The memorial is Grade II listed. The new memorial is of a similar design to the original and is constructed of Mansfield Stone.
