Memorial Details

Type of Memorial: Cross
WMR Reference Number: 27471
Description: In-filled wheel cross mounted on octagonal plinth and three stepped base. Four Fleur de Lys are carved within the wheel at the junction of the cross terminals. The inscription is incised on the plinth. The upper step bears the names of those who died in the First World War, these are inscribed in black on four tablets. The dedication and names of those who died in the Second World World War are inscribed in black on one tablet on the middle step at centre.
Inscription: CROSS: TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR/ THEIR COUNTRY AUG. 1914 - NOV. 1918/ (NAMES)/ 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)/ MAY THEY REST IN PEACE ON FLOWERPOT: PRESENTED BY THE W.I. CHOIR CHRISTMAS 1949
