Description: Small paved garden at the South-east corner of St Thomas' churchyard, with a Cross at its centre, based on the CWGC Cross of Sacrifice, with tapering shaft bearing an upturned sword and the crest for Cheshire, three wheat sheaves, at the bottom, above the hexagonal plinth which carries four incised inscriptions. Behind the cross are three arched panels carrying the incised names of all who served in WW1. The inscriptions are blacked.
Inscription: Cross (front side): IN/GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF/THE MEN WHO AT THE CALL OF DUTY/WENT FROM THE PARISH OF HIGH LANE/TO THE GREAT WAR OF 1914-1919 AND/FOUGHT IN DEFENCE OF LIBERTY & RIGHT/RECORDED UPON THIS CROSS/ERECTED BY THE PARISHIONERS/IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 1920/ARE THE NAMES OF 30 MEN/WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES/ALSO 1939-1945/GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS/THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE/FOR HIS FRIENDS Cross (hear side): 1939-45/ (Names)/ 1946 AS A RESULT/ OF THE ENEMY ACTION/ (Names) Cross (other sides): (Names) Panels: 1914 PRO PATRIA 1919/ (Names)
