    Description
    Plain tapering cenotaph based on the cenotaph located in Whitehall, London. A curved wall has been constructed behind the cenotaph. The main Inscription and a wreath are placed on front face. The memorial is surmounted by an urn.

    • Yorkshire Post and Leeds Intelligencer - Wednesday 03 October 1923 ROTHERHAM WAR MEMORIAL (Call for completion of War Memorial scheme which was erection of cenotaph, provision of an out-patient and casualty ward at Rotherham Hospital. £10,721 raised, cenotaph coast £6.092 leaving balance of £4,629. Estimated cost of out-patient of casualty ward was £12,000 leaving £7,371 to be raised.)

The following statement is included on the landing page "The main memorial in Rotherham is in Clifton Park just inside the main entrance gate, at the junction of Doncaster Road and Clifton Lane. It bears the names of 544 men from the First World War, and in 2015 the names of 1,124 casualties from the Second World War were added on a new series of tablets."
