    Description
Originally a Class 9P (later B3) 4-6-0 locomotive with two nameplates, withdrawn from service in December 1947 and scrapped. One nameplate was sent to the museum at York and the other was preserved on the wall of British Railways Gorton Works, Manchester (where the locomotive had been built) until the closure of the works. It then formed part of a memorial (Our ref. 16046) at nearby St Barnabas Church, Openshaw, later stolen. Nameplate is of unusual polygon shape. the lettering and border are raised brass and the background fill is painted black.
