Memorial Details

Type of Memorial: Cross
WMR Reference Number: 31208
Description: Rough hewn, two-stepped rectangular base surmounted by a rectangular sectioned tapering plinth & rectangular sectioned tapering celtic cross. Matching flower holders at each corner of lower step. Cross incorporates a Sword of Sacrifice on 6 o'clock face & a bronze version on 12 o'clock face. WW1 inscription & names in pinned-lead lettering, on a smoothed area of 6 o'clock plinth face. WW2 plaque with raised lettering & border on 12 o'clock plinth face. Incised Falklands tablet is mounted horizontally on upper step face, immediately below WW2 plaque. The whole memorial is surrounded by a small border garden, situated on a grassed triangular road junction island.
Inscription: Plinth : TO THE / GLORY OF GOD / AND IN MEMORY OF / THOSE WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914 - 1919. / (20 NAMES in two columns) Plaque : 1939 - 1945 / (6 NAMES) / IN PROUD MEMORY / Tablet : FALKLANDS 1982 / (1 NAME)
