Description: Landscape orientated, engraved brass plaque attached to a wall mounted wooden backboard. A cross at top centre of the plaque, bisects the first verse of the inscription. The whole inscription area is enclosed by a continuous dual-lined border, the innermost line being the thinner. Both lines are contoured around the top section of the cross location. All engraved lines, lettering, numerals and cross are infilled with black enamel paint.
Inscription: "THROUGH THE DEAR MIGHT OF + HIM THAT WALKED THE WAVES." / IN LOVING MEMORY OF CLAUDE PHILIPPE DELMEGE R.N. / MIDSHIPMAN H.M.S. CRESSY. / ( SON OF DEPUTY INSPECTOR-GENERAL ALFRED G. DELMEGE R.N. M.V.O. K.H.S. / AND COUSIN OF THE REV. JULIUS DELMEGE PAYNE, VICAR OF THIS PARISH. ) / WHO LOST HIS LIFE IN ACTION IN THE NORTH SEA / SEPTEMBER 22ND.. 1914, AGED 16 YEARS. / THE LORD SITTETH ABOVE THE WATERFLOOD.
