    Description
Portland stone, flat-topped column on a square raised base with stepped approach on the north side. The column emerges from a plinth which is decorated with a cast bronze wreath, with the Dedication inscribed below. At each corner of the base is a carved stone torch, and a Sword of Sacrifice is carved in relief on the east and west faces of the column. The names were originally incised into Portland stone tablets set into the side and rear faces of the base, with the names ordered by the date of death under the year of death. The names are now carried on slate tablets in place of the originals, with the WW1 names ordered as before, but with the WW2 names generally in alphabetical order. The names are incised and gilded.
